Hopefully this event will get a name soon, unless it's some kind of deconstructive gesture, or just plain screw-with-ya-thing to call it "Upcoming Event".
1) It says we can bring our own work for distribution. I'm part of a small press and distro called Nekusis, and I was wondering whether we could show up and set up a table. Does this require a registration and payment process?
2) I am completely at a loss as to what to submit to In/Words concerning this event and what they're looking for in performances. Is it really just down to my personal choice whether I show up for a scheduled set or Open Mic? Would you prefer spoken word, slam poetry, more archaic forms of poetry, prose, experimental madness in the guise of oral communication? What indeed?
3) I'd also love to volunteer and assist in the creation of this event in any way I can.

Thanks for your questions and for using the forum, festrell.
To respond, the name of the event is currently being discussed and should be finalized on Wednesday.
The idea behind the scheduled set is that it's put in place in order to simultaneously publish those who we know for certain would like to read. Thus, the chapbook serves as a program of sorts for the event, a kind of hard copy of the work of performers lending their voice to the mic. There are no specifications on how these performances should be delivered, nor what kind of written expression should be submitted beforehand. If you have something that you feel can be translated to print, by all means - submit it. Otherwise, the open mic is free for you to use.
We appreciate your volunteering to assist. We have a strong and richly populated team of people helping to establish the events and publications that will take place this year. That said, if we need your help behind the scenes, we'll let you know.
Regarding your question concerning distributing Nekusis material - I'll bring it up with the team and reply back to you on Wednesday. We've established that we'd like to lend space to small presses/independent publishers at the events, but need to hammer out a process as to how this can be made possible. Sit tight.

festrell, I have some more information for you. The event will be titled "Out/Words" and you are free to bring your magazine to distribute on a table at the event at no cost. I hope that answers all your questions. If you need anything clarified, don't hesitate to ask.

Oh dear, it seems I actually have a class at that time, i.e. tomorrow, from 6-9pm. *shakes fist* Skip class, or go to Out/Words? It's my Fiction Workshop class too. Dammit. Maybe if I show up at 9:30 the event will still be going...? *sighs*

The time frame is really hazy because we're not sure how many people are going to read. The readings will start at 8:00 and I'm confident we'll still be there at 9:30, so come by!
